On Thursday night, the Forest Park Rangers closed out their regular season by hosting PAC leaders Gibson Southern in a hard-fought matchup. Despite moments of strong play and stretches of possession, the Rangers came up short as the Titans claimed a 2-0 victory. The first half saw Gibson Southern on the front foot, testing the Rangers’ back line with five shots, four of them on frame. The breakthrough came in the 30th minute when the Titans converted one of their chances to grab the 1-0 lead. Forest Park struggled to find attacking rhythm in the half, with two shots that failed to test the keeper. After halftime, the Rangers came out sharper, holding more possession and creating better buildup play. However, the final pass and finishing touch were missing, as they managed only three shots and two corner kicks in the second half. Defensively, Forest Park held strong for much of the half, limiting Gibson Southern to just two shots, one forcing a save. The Titans sealed the result midway through the second half when a corner kick bounced into the box and was redirected into the net by a Ranger defender for an own goal. With the loss, Forest Park finishes the regular season with a 7-8 overall record, including 6-5 in PAC competition. The Rangers now turn their focus to the postseason. They open sectional play on Monday night against North Posey at William Tell Elementary School, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
