FP Boys Tennis loses to Tecumseh 1-4 The Forest Park Boys Tennis team was on a 5 match win streak heading into their home match with Tecumseh. The Braves are having a great start to their season, being 10-1 and also on a win streak. Coach Hochgesang knew it would be a tough match to win, but still wanted his team to battle. The Rangers stuck with their previous lineup and went 3 different Freshmen at all the singles positions. Miles Rea was at 1 Singles and was battling against an experienced Junior. Miles struggled to find his stroke in the first set but started to trust his placements and serve more in the second set. Coach was very pleased with how his 1S Freshman was striking the ball and making good decisions in the second set. Jace Brockman was at 2 Singles vs a talented Freshman as well. Tecumseh's 2S, who is undefeated on the year, was confident in his abilities and it showed in his play. Jace was able to get 3 total games on him and made him work for each and every game. Coach Hochgesang has seen some improvements in Brockman's ball striking and attitude. Jace Betz is the last Freshman in the Ranger's Singles lineup. Betz at 3 Singles struggled against an experienced Junior. Coach Hochgesang has Betz at 3S to get him more strokes and more serving attempts to get him better as a player. Jace has adjusted to playing singles instead of doubles, but has faced some good competition. The Rangers 2 Doubles team of Clayton Roesner and Drew Fischer took the courts against the Braves Senior and Sophomore. FP was unable to trust their lobs and passing shots, and Tecumseh had a hay day at the net with all of their volley attempts. The inexperienced showed against the Braves for the Rangers, but the duo and Hochgesang agreed that this high level of competition is only going to make them better. The only position that the Rangers won was the 1 Doubles position of Alex Fischer and Eli Brockman. After a very slow start, the 1D pair adjusted and found their groove. Alex and Eli found themselves going big too early on some shots and adjusted to set the point up and then attack. Coach was very pleased with their second set and hope to see this duo continue to win matches. The Rangers are now 7-3 on the season and 5-2 in the PAC.
