On Thursday night, the Forest Park Rangers traveled to Booneville for a PAC matchup that proved to be a frustrating night in front of goal. Despite dominating possession and creating the bulk of the chances, the Rangers came up just short, falling 2-1 to the Pioneers. Booneville struck early, capitalizing on a quick counterattack in the 11th minute to open the scoring. The Pioneers doubled their lead in the 24th minute with a well-taken long shot, putting Forest Park in a tough position. The Rangers, however, responded before halftime. In the 35th minute, Edgardo Zelaya played a pass to Hunter Osborne, who score off a shot outside the box. The first half statistics told the story of Forest Park’s control: nine shots and seven corners compared to Booneville’s three shots and zero corners. Goalie Dexter Meyer recording 1 save. The second half was more of the same, with the Rangers applying relentless pressure. They fired off 10 more shots and earned three additional corners, while limiting Booneville to a single attempt. But despite the wave of attacks, Forest Park couldn’t find the equalizer as time ran out. The loss drops the Rangers to 4-4 overall and 3-3 in PAC play. They’ll look to bounce back quickly with a Saturday morning conference showdown at home against Pike Central. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. at Forest Park.
