FP Boys Tennis Squeaks by Boonville with a 3-2 Win The Forest Park Boys Tennis team started their week of home matches with Boonville coming to town. After a solid weekend vs TC and MV, the Rangers were looking to make their 3-match win streak go to a 4-match win streak. And that is what happened, the Rangers were able to battle until the very end to get the 3-2 win over Boonville making their record now 6-2. The FP 1 Doubles pair was able to cruise past Boonville's 1 Doubles team by only giving them 1 game in the second set. Alex and Eli were able to serve well and place the ball with purpose. For the third match in a row, Jace Brockman was able to get a W at the 2 Singles position. Coach Hochgesang was very proud of the way Jace played, and thought it was his best match of the season. Jace's attitude and confidence in his strokes was at his all-time high, and Coach was happy to see that. Miles Rea was the last and determining victory for the Rangers. Rea, at 1 Singles, was the last match on the courts for the Varsity lineup, and the score of the team match was tied at 2-2. The Rangers fate was in a Freshman's hands, and he was able to pull out the victory for the team. With both sets being close and neither guy wanting to make a mistake, the points went on for long rallies. Miles was down 4-5 in the first set, but he was able to battle back and win the next three games to get the first set win 7-5. The second set was just as close with Rea leading 6-5, but ultimately it went into a 6-6 tiebreaker. Miles was able to jump out to a good lead and won the second set tiebreaker 7-3. Clayton Roesner, at 3 Singles, was tasked with playing a Senior and found it hard to get going in his match. After a close first set, Roesner struggled in the second set to get some momentum. Clayton ended up losing his match at 3 Singles. Drew Fischer and Jace Betz struggled in the first set at 2 Doubles, but won the second set easily 6-0. The 2 Doubles position came down to a 10 point tiebreaker for the third set, and the Rangers were unable to win that because of unforced errors, struggles on their serves, and giving Boonville free volleys at the net. FP was able to win the JV battle going 2-1 with Colton Osborn winning 1 out of 2 sets vs two different Boonville opponents, and Brayton Fromme and Preston Englert winning their JV Doubles match.
