FP Boys Tennis Swept Tell City 5-0 The Forest Park Boys Tennis team was back in action and at home for two PAC matches on Saturday morning and afternoon. After a slight rain, FP's tennis courts were soaking wet. The Forest Park coaches, players, and some parents had to work together to get the courts dry as soon as they could. After drying the courts for two hours with 6 leafblowers, 1 big blower, and multiple squeegees, the Rangers were finally able to play the Marksmen. TC came with only 5 players and no 2 Doubles team. The Rangers came into this match already up 1-0 in the match. The Senior/Junior duo of Alex Fischer and Eli Brockman took care of business at 1 Doubles by not losing a game throughout the whole day. Clayton Roesner was at 3 Singles for the first match of the day, and played a consistent player out of TC's Schultz. Clayton continues to get better each and every match and was able to get the win in 2 straight sets. Coach Hochgesang made a change at the 1 and 2 Singles position for the day and moved usual 2 Singles freshman Miles Rea to 1 Singles. Miles cracked at his forehand and had great serves throughout his match. With this being his first 1 Singles match, Coach Hochgesang was very pleased with Rea's play. Jace Brockman was given the task of playing 2 Singles. Jace was able to take care of business vs another very consistent singles player in Morgan. The Rangers took care of business in their first match of the day vs Tell City and improved their record to 4-2 and 3-1 in the PAC. Scores vs Tell City: 1 Singles : Miles Rea beat A. Noble 6-2, 6-2 2 Singles : Jace Brockman beat R. Morgan 6-4, 6-3 3 Singles : Clayton Roesner beat R. Schultz 6-4, 6-3 1 Doubles : Alex Fischer and Eli Brockman beat J. Hall and X. FP Boys Tennis Swept Mount Vernon 5-0 After Tell City played Mount Vernon at Forest Park, the Rangers then played Mount Vernon on Saturday. The Rangers were able to sweep the Wildcats 5-0. Changing up the lineup again, Coach Hochgesang kept his 1 Singles, 2 Singles, and 1 Doubles all the same as vs TC. Freshman Jace Betz was tasked with playing his first Varsity Singles match at 3 Singles. After struggling in the first set and losing, Jace was able to change his gameplan a little more and make some adjustments. Betz won the second set without giving up a game. The 3 Singles match went to a 10 point third set tiebreaker, and Jace was able to pull that out winning 10-8 after being down 3-6 in it! Clayton Roesner and Drew Fischer played their first match together at 2 Doubles, and started off very slow. After a not so good first set, the 2D Rangers kicked it into gear and won in straight games in the second set. The 1 Doubles duo of Alex and Eli won 6-0, 6-0 vs Mount Vernon, and did not lose a game all day long. This was the most confident Coach Hochgesang has seen Alex and Eli play all season long, cracking at every shot and feeling confident in their serves. Miles Rea, at 1 Singles, played well in the first set vs MV, but struggled in the second set with some unforced errors. Miles was able to win the third set 10 point tiebreaker 10-8 and secure the win. Miles played well vs Tell City's Senior and Mount Vernon's Junior. At 2 Singles, Jace Brockman played better vs Mount Vernon and was able to serve well, and have good returns vs the lefty. In JV play, Colton Osborn and Preston Englert were able to win their first match of the season winning 8-7 in a tiebreaker. Scores vs Mount Vernon: 1 Singles : Miles Rea beat W. Scates 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 2 Singles : Jace Brockman beat N. Woods 6-3, 6-2 3 Singles : Jace Betz beat J. O'Risky 3-6, 6-0, 10-8 1 Doubles : Alex Fischer and Eli Brockman beat K. Hamilton and R. Lyons 6-0, 6-0 2 Doubles : Clayton Roesner and Drew Fischer beat J. Gross and W. Campbell 6-4, 6-0 JV 1 Doubles : Colton Osborn and Preston Englert beat Wat and Chase 8-7 (8-6 in tiebreaker) The Rangers had a successful week going 3-1, and a successful Saturday winning 10-0 vs Tell City and Mount Vernon. The Rangers bring their record to 5-2 and 4-1 in PAC on the season so far. The Rangers have a tough week ahead of them vs some good teams in Boonville, Southridge, and Tecumseh. FP is lucky to have all three matches at home this week though. Wish the boys good luck, and come cheer them on this week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at home.
