The Forest Park Rangers controlled the tempo from the opening whistle but had to grind out a hard-fought 2-1 win over the visiting Evansville Day High School Eagles in an intense non-conference matchup. The Rangers dominated possession throughout the night and peppered the Eagles' goal with 17 shots—eight of them on target—in a first half that somehow ended scoreless. Despite the attacking pressure, Forest Park struggled to break through a compact Eagles defense. On the other end, the Rangers' goalkeeper enjoyed a quiet first half with zero saves required. After continued pressure early in the second half, Forest Park finally found their breakthrough in the 56th minute when junior midfielder Gabe Schemanuer calmly buried a penalty kick to give the home side a 1-0 lead. However, the celebration was short-lived. Evansville Day responded quickly, capitalizing on a corner kick opportunity to level the score in the 60th minute. But the Rangers weren’t done. In the 70th minute, Schemanuer stepped up again—this time from the corner flag—delivering a pinpoint cross into the box that found freshman defender Kaden Boeglin. Boeglin coolly slotted home the game-winner, notching his first varsity goal and securing the victory for Forest Park. The Rangers’ defense held firm in the final minutes to preserve the 2-1 win, pushing their record to 3-2 on the season. Forest Park now turns its focus to conference play, returning to action Thursday night against PAC rival Southridge. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. at Forest Park High School.
