FP Boys Tennis loses to Gibson Southern on Senior Night The Forest Park Boys Tennis team had their final regular season match on Thursday evening against the PAC undefeated team in Gibson Southern. This was also Senior Night for both Eli Brockman and Clayton Roesner. The Rangers knew this match would be very difficult to win with Gibson Southern being the best team they've seen all season long. The Rangers fell short, but battled against a very good team. FP's 1 Singles, Jace Brockman played against a veteran Senior in Curl. Curl played his game and frustrated Brockman with not making many mistakes. Jace's serve was working today, but some of his groundstrokes were a little off. Jace battled but fell short. FP's 2 Singles, Miles Rea, played Sophomore Williams. This was definitely the best opponent Rea has seen all season long. Miles played well, but Williams was able to counter Miles' good shots with even better ones. Rea, struggling as of late, looked more like himself vs GS, but still came up short against a great competitor. FP's 3 Singles, Trey Benton, played against a Senior in Wahl. Trey battled hard to start the first set and kept the match close until 3-4. Trey played well, but was outmatched by the Senior's strokes. Trey's strokes were solid, but again, Benton found himself hitting good shots to Wahl's great shots. FP's 1 Doubles pair, Eli Brockman and Clayton Roesner, battled against the best doubles team they'd seen all season in two Seniors of McClellan and Debord. The Rangers found themselves down 2-5 in the first set but battled back to make it 4-5. They fell short in the first set 4-6. The second set started very similarly. The duo found themselves down 1-5 and won the next three games to make it 4-5. But, again fell short 4-6. Brockman and Roesner had great points and shots, but the net work and baseline work of GS was tough to battle. FP's 2 Doubles pair, Jace Betz and Drew Fischer, played against two Juniors in Grabbe and Bailey. The 2D pair started the match well and kept the set close. The duo found themselves losing the momentum once they won 3 games in each set. Betz and Fischer had spurts of great doubles shots and Coach was happy to see that. Coach Hochgesang was not satisfied with losing, but competing and losing to this good of a team, Coach was pleased with the close games, the underclassmen battling, and the two Seniors not giving up when down big.
