FP Boys Tennis Loses Another Close One to Washington The Forest Park Boys Tennis team drove an hour to Washington's tennis courts on Tuesday Evening. The Rangers battled but were not able to get the W vs a solid Washington team. The Rangers lost 2-3. FP's 1 Singles Jace Brockman had to battle a very experienced and good Junior in Meredith. Jace showed fight and made every game close, but he was just not able to win most of those close games. Brockman has been impressive with a 8-3 PAC record, and he looks to make it 9-3 vs Gibson Southern on Thursday. The Rangers 2 Singles struggled versus a solid Senior in Bouchie. Miles had many unforced errors into the net and deep, and he could just not get his confidence back. Rea show very good spurts and some not-so-good spurts, which comes and goes with Underclassmen. Coach Hochgesang knows how good Miles is and knows he can get back to how he was playing at the beginning of the season. Forest Park's 3 Singles Trey Benton came into WA and finished his business quickly. Benton played his game and played it well. Coach Hochgesang did not have to talk to him during his match because Trey was cruising the whole way through. It was good to see Benton play with confidence. FP's 1 Doubles pair of Eli Brockman and Clayton Roesner battled very hard for their W on Tuesday evening. The duo struggled to get comfortable in the first set and went down a set. After talking with Coach, the boys locked back in and played their style of tennis. Eli and Clayton won their 2nd set easily and forced a 3rd set. The third set started with the Rangers up 4-1 and then the Hatchets got some confidence getting it to 5-4. Eli was able to serve it out and win the 3rd set 6-4. Coach Hochgesang went up to the Senior pair after their match and told the boys how proud of them he was! The Rangers 2 Doubles pair of Jace Betz and Drew Fischer lost their match but showed more confidence and better tennis play. It was a match both players thought they should have won and could have, but Coach was pleased with some of the play that he saw. Forest Park also had some JV matches with their match vs Washington. Freshman Parker Schnarr was able to go 2-0 in Singles and showed some great play and adjustments. Both doubles team of Harrison Gutgsell and Preston Englert & Colton Osborn and Zaden Fromme both struggled to finish points, net shots, and hit serves in.
