The Forest Park Rangers boys soccer team picked up a hard-fought PAC victory Thursday night, defeating the Princeton Tigers 1-0 in a tightly contested battle. The Rangers wasted little time finding the breakthrough. Just 10 minutes into the match, Hunter Osborne delivered a cross into the box that found the head of Trevor James. James finished the opportunity, putting the Rangers ahead 1-0. That lone goal would prove to be all Forest Park needed. Following the early goal, the match turned into a defensive battle, with both teams fighting for possession and opportunities. The Rangers defense stood firm throughout the remainder of the contest, while goalkeeper Dexter Meyer came up with several key saves to preserve the lead. Meyer finished the night with eight saves, helping the Rangers secure their fifth clean sheet of the season. Forest Park's offense continued to create opportunities as well, recording 15 shots on the night. When the final whistle sounded, the Rangers had held on for the 1-0 victory and improved to 8-4 on the season. The Forest Park JV boys followed the varsity squad with a strong performance of their own, earning a 4-0 victory over Princeton. Bryson Becher and Eli Ernst provided the goals for the Rangers in the JV contest. The Rangers will return to action Monday, September 21, when they travel to South Spencer.
