The Forest Park Rangers boys soccer team battled the Northeast Dubois Jeeps in a highly competitive matchup between two ranked teams Tuesday night, with the No. 9 Rangers falling to the No. 7 Jeeps by a final score of 2-1. The game began with an offensive showcase as Forest Park applied early pressure and found the breakthrough in the fifth minute. Trevor James assisted Lucas Dooley, who collected the pass in the box and calmly finished with his left foot to give the Rangers an early 1-0 lead. Northeast Dubois responded quickly, earning a penalty kick in the 10th minute and converting to tie the game at 1-1. Ten minutes later, the Jeeps found the back of the net again to take a 2-1 lead. After the early scoring, both defenses settled in and turned the remainder of the match into a defensive battle. Forest Park goalkeeper Dexter Meyer kept the Rangers within striking distance, recording seven saves on the night. The Rangers continued to push for an equalizer throughout the second half, generating 10 shots after halftime compared to three in the opening 40 minutes. Despite the increased offensive pressure, Forest Park was unable to find the tying goal, and Northeast Dubois held on for the 2-1 victory. The Rangers showed resilience against a strong Northeast Dubois squad, but the early deficit proved to be the difference in the ranked matchup. The Rangers return to the field on Thursday night in a PAC matchup against Princeton.
