Forest Park Boys Tennis Sweeps Pike Central 5-0 The Forest Park Boys Tennis team was back in action at home on Monday evening vs PAC foe Pike Central. The Rangers traveled to Loogootee on Saturday to play in a 4-team tournament, but the rain had other plans. FP started their play at a very high-level vs Loogootee, but then the rain came in and cancelled the tournament. With that momentum being brought into this match vs Pike Central, the Rangers were able to sweep the Chargers 5-0. The closest and most interesting match was on court 1 where the 1 Singles players battled. FP's 1 Singles, Jace Brockman, battled against an experienced Senior in Collins. Collins, who had great forehand strokes and first serves, found it difficult to win points with Jace getting to every one of his balls. Jace started the match out close, and then pulled away late in the first set. When the score was 4-3 in Jace's favor, Brockman kicked into another gear and won 5 straight games to win the first set and get himself up 3-0 in the second. PC's Collins adjusted his game and made the match close. After getting the match to 5-4 in the second set, Jace was able to break his opponent and win the match. Coach Hochgesang has seen so much improvement in Jace's overall game and tennis IQ, and he couldn't be more proud of his 1 Singles Sophomore! At 2 Singles, Miles Rea flew through his opponent winning in straight sets 0,0. Miles has also been playing very well this season and looks to continue his season with some great play. At 3 Singles, FP's Trey Benton was able to take the night off as Pike Central did not have a 3 Singles player. At 1 Doubles, FP's Seniors Eli Brockman and Clayton Roesner also flew through their opponents winning in straight sets 0,0. The Ranger pair got the job done quickly and finished points when they were supposed to. Their serves also helped them out a ton. At 2 Doubles, Harrison Gutgsell and Drew Fischer won. With these two players playing together for the first time this year, the 2 took some time to get used to each other, but then kicked it into gear. The 2D duo got a win under their belts and look to continue that winning. Varsity Scores vs Pike Central: 1S: Jace Brockman beat T. Collins 6-3, 6-4 2S: Miles Rea beat A.
