V Boys JH Soccer Falls to Gibson Southern On Wednesday, August 27th, the Ranger Boys JH Soccer team hosted Gibson Southern. Sam Ernst gave the Rangers a lead late in the first half on a through ball from Zach Cummings. The Ranger defenders led by Blake Morrison, Zayden Frick, Bentley Mohr, Jarrett Verkamp, and Galdino Cruz Mora, with Gaige Schnell in goal, were able to keep Gibson Southern out of the net for a 1-0 lead. Gibson Southern came out strong in the second half and scored two goals early on two solid strikes to take the lead. The game evened out for the remainder of the half, but the Rangers could not find the equalizer. JV Boys JH Soccer Battles Against Gibson Southern JV On Wednesday, August 27th, the Rangers hosted Gibson Southern JV. The Rangers were able to take an early 2-0 lead. Joshua Parra scored both goals on through balls from William Schemenauer. The remainder of the first half was a high paced attack and counter-attack game with some nice passing sequences from both teams, but the score remained 2-0 at halftime. Gibson Southern pulled the game within one goal midway through the second half to create some tense moments as the sunset and the lights came on. Late in the second half, Felix Schmuecker sent a ball up to Sebastian Sicard who made a great touch, flicking the ball with the outside of his right foot to a charging Joshua Parra who scored to complete his hattrick and give the Rangers a little breathing room. The game finished with the Rangers earning a well-fought 3-1 victory. Zander Berg and Eli Reckelhoff played solid and tireless defense to keep a talented Gibson Southern team out of the net.
