August 25, 2026 — The Class 1A No. 9 Forest Park Rangers traveled to Lincoln City Tuesday night for a ranked Pocket Athletic Conference matchup against the Class 2A No. 11 Heritage Hills Patriots. In a tightly contested battle between two ranked teams, the Rangers came up just short, falling 2-1. Both teams spent the opening minutes working to establish their style of play. Heritage Hills came out aggressively and generated an early look at the Rangers' goal, but Forest Park's defense held firm. As the half progressed, the Rangers settled in and began to find more possession. Forest Park created several opportunities from distance, but the Patriots' defense and goalkeeper kept the Rangers off the scoreboard. Heritage Hills broke through around the 20-minute mark, scoring the game's opening goal to take a 1-0 lead. The Rangers responded with a strong finish to the half. With just 1:48 remaining before halftime, Luke Meunier found the back of the net to level the match at 1-1. Meunier's goal was assisted by Dominic Schemenaur. Goalkeeper Dexter Meyer turned in a strong performance throughout the opening half, making several key plays to help keep the Rangers level. The second half became a back-and-forth battle, with neither team able to maintain possession for an extended period of time. Eight minutes into the half, Heritage Hills was awarded a penalty kick. The Patriots converted the opportunity to regain the lead at 2-1. That would prove to be the final goal of the night. Forest Park made a late push in search of the equalizer, creating pressure and battling to the final whistle. However, the Heritage Hills defense and goalkeeper held strong to preserve the 2-1 victory. The Rangers fall to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in PAC play following the loss. Forest Park will look to bounce back on Saturday, August 29, when the Rangers host Wood Memorial at the Best Home Furnishings Turf Field at Forest Park High School. The Rangers will look to return to the win column in front of their home crowd.
