FP Boys Tennis Beats Boonville The Forest Park Boys Tennis team traveled to Boonville on Tuesday evening to play a PAC opponent. With the Rangers 1-1, FP looked to get to a winning record. The Rangers came into Boonville and won 6 of the 8 Varsity and JV matches. Jace Brockman was tasked with playing a Boonville Senior at 1 Singles, and Jace played his best first set of the year. As he started the second set, he dug himself a hole, but quickly dug himself out of it by getting back to his strengths. Coach Hochgesang was very pleased with how Jace played with more confidence and pace. Miles Rea, at 2 Singles, took care of business pretty quickly, being the first one off the courts with a W. Miles was able to serve great and move his opponent well. Rea was able to hit a lot of good volleys as well. Trey Benton, at 3 Singles, played another great match. Coach Hochgesang said to Trey after the match that that was the way he was supposed to play. Trey was able to set points up and win them with power when he was supposed to. He moved the ball great and had good serves the whole evening. Eli Brockman and Clayton won at 1 Doubles as well. The 2 Seniors started their match with 0 intensity but after the boys woke up, they cruised through their match. They were able to finish points at the net and had good placement on some of their strokes. With normal 2 Doubles player (Drew Fischer) out sick, Coach Hochgesang was able to give Freshman Harrison Gutgsell a chance. Harry and Jace Betz took the court at 2 Doubles. This match did not go how any FP fan or coach would want, but it was a learning experience for the young duo. The pair showed some good serves and volleys here and there, but did not play with confidence. This match went into a 3rd set tiebreaker. Varsity Scores vs Boonville : 1 Singles : Jace Brockman beat B. Hancock 6-0, 6-3 2 Singles : Miles Rea beat L. Aldridge 6-0, 6-1 3 Singles : Trey Benton beat J. Hancock 6-0, 6-0 1 Doubles : Eli Brockman and Clayton Roesner beat G. Scales and J. Conner 6-1, 6-0 2 Doubles : Jace Betz and Harrison Gutgsell lost to G. Bryson and K. Conner 6-4, 6-7 (7-9), 8-10 JV Scores vs Boonville : 1 Singles : Parker Schnarr beat J. Meyers 6-1 2 Singles : Preston Englert beat T. Chapman 6-2 3 Singles : Colton Osborn lost to G. Howard 4-6 All three of the JV guys showed good fight and good strokes. Parker and Preston were both able to step on the gas pedal right away and finish their sets with a win. Colton started his match a little slow, but battled back being down 1-5 to make it 4-5. He ended up losing the next game though. Good 2-1 JV win though for the Rangers! The Forest Park Rangers have their next match tonight at HOME vs Crawford County at 5. Come out and support!
