The Forest Park Rangers opened the 2026 boys soccer season in impressive fashion Saturday afternoon, defeating PAC opponent Mount Vernon 7-0 at Best Home Furnishings Field. The Rangers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Just one minute into the match, senior Luke Meunier found the back of the net to give Forest Park an early 1-0 lead. Lucas Dooley provided the assist on the opening goal. Forest Park continued to apply pressure and doubled its advantage in the 19th minute when Bryant Cooper scored to make it 2-0. The Rangers carried the two-goal advantage into halftime after controlling much of the opening 40 minutes. Forest Park recorded 7 shots on target in the first half, with the Mount Vernon goalkeeper making five saves. Dexter Meyer recorded one save in goal for the Rangers. The second half saw Forest Park turn up the pressure even further. The Rangers added five more goals while registering another 7 shots on target to put the match out of reach. Gabe Schemenaur opened the second-half scoring from the penalty spot before Trevor James found the back of the net off an assist from Layton Lubbehusen. Bryson Becher added the Rangers' fifth goal of the afternoon, with Bryant Cooper providing the assist. Carson Kellems then found the back of the net for Forest Park's sixth goal before Bryant Cooper scored his second of the game with the Rangers' seventh and final goal of the match. Meyer made two additional saves in the second half, while Anstin Vonderheide also recorded a save as Forest Park's defense and goalkeeping unit kept Mount Vernon off the scoreboard for the full 80 minutes. The Rangers finished the afternoon with 18 shots on target and seven goals as they opened the season with a convincing 7-0 victory. With the win, Forest Park moves to 1-0 on the season and 1-0 in PAC play. The Rangers will be back in action Saturday August 22nd against Tell City at Cedar Crest.
