FP 7th Grade Boys Basketball Loses Close A game to Northeast Dubois, but Win the B Game The Forest Park 7th Grade Boys Basketball team traveled to Northeast Dubois for an A/B matchup. After a bad performance vs Holy Trinity on Tuesday, Coach Hochgesang was hoping his boys would be more locked in for this county rival. The A team ended up losing a close game 41-47, but the B team played a great game and won 37-22! The Rangers started the first quarter off with a battle against the Jeeps. With the Jeeps in a 1-3-1 defense, FP had a tough time keeping care of the ball. The first quarter ended with the Rangers down 9-13 with both Cash Lueken and Blake Morrison scoring all of the 1st quarter points. The 2nd quarter came and both teams were able to score with ease. The Rangers hit 5/9 FT's in the second quarter while the Jeeps hit two 3's. The halftime score was 23-27 in the Jeeps favor. Coach Hochgesang was happy with how the first half ended with his Rangers battling back to make it a two possession game. He also told his team that they needed a big third quarter if they wanted to win this game. Thankfully, FP did have a good third quarter, scoring 13 points to Dubois' 8. The Rangers led after 3 quarters, 36-35. The Rangers were 6 minutes away from getting a much needed win. In the 4th quarter, the Rangers fell flat and the Jeeps were able to score easier off of fastbreak buckets and second chance points. FP battled until the final whistle, but ended up falling short to a much improved Northeast Dubois team. The A team lost 41-47. The Rangers only committed 8 turnovers and shot 10/16 from the FT line. FP was able to force the Jeeps into 12 turnovers, and the Rangers had 4 players with more than 7 points! Scoring vs Northeast Dubois A: Blake Morrison : 15 points (5/8 FT's) - Season High Michael Christmas : 9 points (3/6 FT's) Cash Lueken : 8 points (two 3-pointers) Hunter Lange : 7 points (2/2 FT's; one 3-pointer) Zander Reyling-Schwartz : 2 points After the close A game, the Rangers wanted to win the B game vs the Jeeps. FP started the game with some great offensive scores and some great hands on the defensive end. With three people scoring in the first, the Rangers were up 10-4. The Rangers then fell off a little on the defensive end as the Jeeps were able to get some offensive rebounds. FP scored 7 points to the Jeeps 9 points to finish the first half up 17-13. The Rangers came out in the second half with some confidence. Scoring 10 points in the third quarter, the Rangers looked like a good team out there while also only allowing ND to score 6 points. FP was up 27-19 going into the final quarter. The Rangers were able to finish the job at the free throw line going 4/5 in the fourth quarter. The Rangers had their best defensive stand in the fourth quarter as they held the Jeeps to only 3 points. Coach Nalley and Coach Hochgesang were very proud of this win for the B team, as the Rangers won 37-22. Every player that entered the B game for the Rangers scored at least 2 points as well! FP also only had 8 turnovers and shot 6/9 from the FT line!
